Call for projects to reduce household and related waste for 2022

Information updated on 05/08/22

As part of its Zero Waste policy, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole renewed its Call for Projects on May 31, 2022 to support projects and initiatives seeking to reduce household and related waste in the area.

The goal is to create local momentum regarding waste management, to identify innovative ideas in this field, and work towards a “Zero Waste” metropolitan area.

Developing new solutions for a more responsible territory

Submitted projects must address the need to reduce household and related waste. The maximum implementation period for projects is 15 months, starting from the date the agreement is signed. They may, however, already have started but not yet been completed. In that case, it must be demonstrated that the aid will enable structural growth, improve efficiency, or help replicate the project.

To qualify for this grant, the project must be implemented in the Montpellier Métropole area (applicants may therefore submit a proposal if they are located in one of Montpellier Métropole’s 31 cities).

In addition to the expected impact on waste reduction, projects must also generate socio-economic impact within the metropolitan area, where possible.

The call for projects is intended to foster the emergence of innovative projects to:
  • Promote waste sorting
  • Promote prevention and awareness
  • Develop circular economy projects

Awareness raising activities must be made available to students and households in collective housing situations.

This Call for Projects does not apply to projects focusing on:
  • Awareness actions outside the target audience
  • Communication actions
  • Events
  • Feasibility or market studies if no prototype is planned

Those aspects are covered by other financial aid or procurement frameworks proposed by Montpellier Métropole.

How to respond to the Call for Projects

This Call for Projects seeks to support the emergence of new actions to meet the new challenges and objectives of metropolitan waste reduction policy. Only associations (including neighborhood, business, and entrepreneurial associations) are eligible for this Call for Projects, with a limit of one project per organization. The organizations must certify their legal existence at the time of submission. They must also be able to support the project financially and economically.

The total amount of this Call for Projects is 120,000 €, with a minimum award of 2,000 € and a maximum of 25,000 € for each selected project.
