In 2019, Genious Healthcare joined MindMaze a Swiss company specialized in neuro-technologies and virtual reality.

“We continue to make progress developing digital medical equipment in the form of therapeutic video games and are becoming the development center for the entire group,” proudly says Pierre Foulon, managing director of Genious Healthcare, now MindMaze France.

The Montpellier company was the e-health division of Genious, a group specialized in information systems, e-learning, and web apps. Since 2010, it has been developing therapeutic video games that have been validated clinically, such as X-Torp for Alzheimer patient therapy, Voracy Fish for stroke victims, and Toap Run, which addresses walking and balance problems in Parkinson patients.

“Our video games are available via the curapy.com platform, to the benefit of 4,500 patients and 1,200 health professionals,” says the managing director. Notably, results are excellent with Alzheimer's patients.

Genious Healthcare dedicates 75% of its time to research. Its work was chosen by the Institute for Brain and Spinal Cord at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris. The company has been building a close relationship within the BRAIN e-NOVATION joint health laboratory since 2014. In 2014, Genious Healthcare was one of the winners of the “Worldwide Innovation Competition 2030” and in 2016 was awarded the Hospital-University Research call-for-projects.

Hiring twelve new employees in 2020

“Our integration with MindMaze, whose medical market is a priority, enables us to take on a global dimension,” exclaims Pierre Foulon.

The company will continue with its activity in Montpellier, where all its games are developed. The resources deployed here by the Swiss pioneer will enable it to hire twelve people during the first half of 2020. “The Montpellier Métropole area benefits from a large number of potential candidates in the video game and e-health field,” adds the managing director, who is preparing to launch new projects such as Reminary, a video game for motor rehabilitation through thought.

The team will set up its offices in the Creative City space, within a Montpellier digital ecosystem which has proven to be quite promising. Pierre Foulon says, “we wanted to stay in the city, and Montpellier Métropole and SERM both helped us make that possible.
